Doesn't Isreal demonstrated one of the problems with the Democratic party. My guess is that large parts of the Democratic party, like the CBC, would love to end the U.S.'s support of Isreal but that the Senators from New York, California, Conn, etc have to be very supportive of Isreal.

Does anyone really believe that who ever takes over the Senate Foreign Relations committee from Joe Biden will tolerate a weaking of the U.S.'s relationship with Isreal.

Jackson is an idiot again. The USA (exemplified numerous times in the past years by the Bush administration) has often sold Israel out to other interests, namely oil interests in the Middle East, which are considered more important than Israel.

Good analysis, Jazz. I'm Jewish and a supporter of Israel in the general sense. But I'd like to see more of an engagement with the peace process. Yes, many Palestinians act in bad faith. But so do many Israelis - especially the settlers. Sometimes you have to cut off both extremes. Hamas has ruled in Gaza for a few years now and life has gotten worse for Palestinians. My guess is that people there just want common sense improvements to their lives and not ideological extremism at this point.

As for Jesse Jackson, his "tear his nuts off" comment on Fox News was one of the best self-Sistah Soldjah moments I've ever seen. Can anybody honestly think Jackson (who has criticized Israel for decades) speaks for Obama? Is it not obvious that Obama directly threatens Jackson's shakedown politics?

And would a white Presidential candidate be asked about a comment by Jesse Jackson? Bill Clinton had a far closer relationship with Jackson than Obama. I wonder if even Clinton would be asked about a Jackson criticism of Israel.
