Let's also not forget that Palin when asked during the VP debate how she would respond if McCain became incapacitated as president, said she would run the country her way, and not follow McCain's vision.
Biden said that he would continue with Obama's vision. I think that is the appropriate way to go. After all the country does elect a president and his vision. I believe that if a prez candidate truly cares about his message he would select not only a VP who is capable of running the country, but a VP who will also carry out the president's vision.
McCain has selected as VP someone who apparently does not agree with his philosophy and vision of where the country should head.
I think it's important that Palin shares her vision of the US with the rest of us....
At any rate, it doesn't surprise me that McCain and Palin disagree on important matters and it really says something about McCain if he can not control his own VP pick on the campaign trail. Shouldn't McCain get final say?
The article mentioned that Palin is probably wanting to appear to be a fighter and thinking of a 2012 prez run. When I read that I couldn't help but think how Palin is emulating Hillary's tactics (I'm not saying it's good or bad, it's just an observation).
If McCain does win the election and stays in office only one term before retiring from public life, then we could have a Hillary v. Palin choice for prez in 2012! :)

If Obama wins convincingly this year I wonder how many serious politicians will continue to think that the Palin method of campaigning that the Hot Air readers love so much can actually win a general election? If she actually runs and wins the nomination I don't know how well she'd do. I tend to think not that well unless the next four years are really bad and Obama is perceived as not improving things enough.

Yeah Jim, I'm kinda hoping Palin does turn up the volume a bit. Nothing will make her more toxic to future elections than if she keeps up with her Obama attack routine. She's a one-woman wrecking crew when it comes to turning independents away from the Republican party.

"Quoth an unnamed Republican consultant: “Sarah Palin is no fool. She sees the same thing [i.e. a likely defeat] and wants to salvage what she can. She is positioning herself for the future."
Positioning herself for the future? As what? As JW said, she's toxic. Still, something good could come of this if her most vociferous fans were to follow her back to Alaska.

The scary thing is I could see Conservatives nominating her as their candidate in '12. If the economy is still in the toilet--- she could unseat Obama- like Reagan did Jimmy Carter in 1980.
Chances are whoever wins will spend at least their first term trying to work our way out of this meltdown and restore confidence in the market and banking system. Then they will have to campaign and explain to voters why their campaign promises were unmet.

If our next president is-hopefully- Sen. Obama , the 5th November newspaers should run articles titled : The Year the Republican chickens came to roost. 2008 saw the worst-ever ticket the GOP offred to Joe public. Choosing a white- again ???? Vietnam hero again ??? OLD- again ??? senaqtor of 20-somethimng years standing with an aknowledged joe-six packs- hockey mum- you`re kidding !, barely learnt in international politics -what ! unmercifully aware of what are a Veep responsabilities , but dumb enough to pander to the worst instints of a mob, bringing populism to heights our country had mercifully been protected for decades, marked by poor ethics as a Governor of State, who is unable to utter a decent intelligible sentence when facing a normal journalist-mark that I did not write an astute journalist, simply able to the barest of sentences to fawning voice-speakers as Hannity who got his diploma from Goebbels Uni.. BUT THAT IS NOT ALL; again and again the GOP has turned his back to intelligent minorities, calle them blacks cqll them mormons- the GOP has believed the sirens of talk radio hosts who are self-appointed themselves as the Chosen Ones whio have abused the decent Republican voters...and guess what the chicken have come to roost. When you forger that the USA are multi-racial, multi-cultural-multi-fath-based, when you think you gain by mention race and religious creed rather than a decent political program, when your behaviour errs on the borders of thetrical antics as suspending one`s campaign because of money worries for God sake, but cant do during WW2 or Vietnam, when you chose to right an old wrong, by writing a new wrong against a community i.e. the Mormons who to my knowledge are still americans, still pay taxes, go to school and enlist or Musllims or blacks because - OMG they are black so forever to remain 3/5 citizens. They chose populism, they chose age and past history, versus change, hope, brains and most of all they chose entitlment over maths as in economy. If and when the GOP wants tio win again, it got to do like Tony Blair did in `97. propose A NEW CONTRACT, A NEW LABOUR, A NEW GOP WITH FRESH FACES , FRESH IDEAS and get rid of the past and all the scum of true racist hard-core like hannity. There is no shame in desenfranchising evil would be voters. Let bygones be bygones and let Rush rest in Hell.
