Well they certainly aren't taking the advice so far:

http://www.boston.com/news/politics/2008/articl...

They've gone from negative campaigning to inciting hate in the crowds. How "American" is this? How "Country First" is this? If something happens to Obama whose fault will it be? John McCain has turned out to be a phony who cares only about himself and America be damned. All his high sounding rhetoric has turned out to be empty, and now the rhetoric has just gone into the toilet. Congratulations John, you've just thrown everything worth having away.

Thank you for this post. It is the last thing I will read before going to sleep. I can only hope that McCain will take you advice, or advice much like yours.

I also think McCain would benefit if he had a positive message.

Such lavish praise of Obama probably wouldn't help him, though. Announcing the end of his negative campaign might be a good start. Returning to his fairly open availability to the press, he could downplay the negativity, shrugging it off as the sort of politics he always disliked anyway.

But he'd also need to have something good to propose for the economy.

On the other hand, negative campaigning works. And I get the feeling that a lot of Republicans think McCain should keep going negative, only more and bigger. So I doubt he can call off the attack dogs.
