A new day is dawning. The bailout bill includes mental health parity, Shaun.

And if that's not enough for your relief, Obama is leading at the endgame begins.

lotusflwr:

Torture is not a "winning" campaign issue and it is highly unlikely that any candidate will bring it up voluntarily. As it is, about half of all Americans endorse its use in connection with the so-called War on Terror.

McCain has flip-flopped on torture, and by the standards of Bush-Cheney was NOT tortured when he was a POW. Palin is on the record as favoring the torture of wildlife by shooting it from aircraft and leaving it do bleed to death, but nothing about torturing humans.

Obama and Biden have said rather tepidly that their AG will review the actions of the prior administration concerning possible illegalities and have left it at that.

Very good points here, and a reminder that we haven't heard a whole lot lately from either candidate on the issues of torture and Guantanamo. I know I've heard McCain mention he, understandably, finds the practice abhorrent and no doubt Obama does too. Unfortunately other than a few passing mentions, this issues seems to fade in and out from the spotlight and takes back seat to Iraq, the economy and everything else. I'll definitely be digging into the links provided since it's an important issue on which I am woefully understudied myself.
