DSL, do you use the net to check up on the things said or the ads? I do and try to get 5 to 10 sites with answers to get the truth. If she did not go at Biden it is because it was not in her rehearsed or learned lessons on what to say to those things, What about her lies about the General and (forget her not knowing his name) but TO OUT AND OUT TURN WHAT HE SAID AROUND THE WRONG WAY, to SAY THAT BIDEN or anyone is waving a white flag.. Was this another of her cute little me just like you thing. Wasn't this "not a debate since they couldn't go at it like the Presidentical one" supposed to let us the American people get to know what these two people were like, what they thought, knew "her not much".. forgive some mistakes in their talking But not the big points. How many times did she have to say Maverick, I am a Gov. etc.. Why wouldn't she answer some of those important questions, Do you really want a VP "who could be president" that would be so rude to the monirator.. What would she say to Leader of another country if she did not want to answer a question?? This was not a GEE see I am just like you (she is not like us she wants to be a VP and she is a Gov.) and I want you to see how cutesy, honest "she won't give her statement in Alaska even though a judge says she must, and how the heck does her husband get away with not giving his statement? IS SHE USING HER POSITION again?? TO KEEP FROM GIVING IT. She who says she believes in the law, she lives by it, she runs her state by the laws. BUT SHE WILL NOT FOLLOW THE LAW AND MAKE HER STATEMENT.. That tells me a lot right there about how truthful SHE IS NOT.

Forgot to ask you all.. cute.. Why has no one jumped on the out and out lie Palin told about our people saying we could use the Surge in Afganistan? I have looked this up on at least ten places and Biden was correct "it is said it would not work", how did she get away with telling untruths (and no one has mentioned them today) about the way Obama has voted or the 90 percent John McCain has voted with the president. Is this the Maverick .. Palin is a nice looking woman who, like our now Bush, believes in what she says and does to get what she wants and to heck with the rest of us because if she wants it she will use what ever methods is needed and think HER WAY IS THE ONLY WAY.. We have had that for 8 years ( I voted for Baby Bush the first time around then became an Independent half way through his first term). I want a real change. Both parties are not going to make a good four years with all the messes we have, no matter who wins they are not going to be able to carry out what they want because they will have to try and get us back on our feet. My worry is that because Obama is bi-racial that these good ole boys/girls will hold that against him and vote for McCain even though they know that we will end up in the dumps or with a Woman who as not even learned her manners and how to talk to us the American people as adults and not kiddies to make faces at or joke with or try and be our next door neighbor WHEN THEY ARE SUPPOSED to be out there holding our country together and protecting us. TAKE THE ROSE COLORED GLASSES OFF, FORGET THE PARTIES AND VOTE FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS TWO PEOPLE WHO COULD BE PRESIDENT AND IF MUST BE TREAT US MORE LIKE AN ADULT THAT A KID NEXT DOOR.

I also watched the VP debate, not to see the canidates but to hear their views and to watch their motions. I did not set expectations so I would not be disapointed. I then listened to the broadcasts afterwards and today. I was both listed as a Republican and Democrat at different times, I no longer align myself with those parties. Both sides had their messed up truths in a few areas BUT I can not believe what I am hearing or reading. My husband and I are retired (he do to health) and we are about middle class. We both about fell out of our chairs when all these people started saying how great Palin was. I am average or a little above in smarts so I can not see how others could not see how phony Palin was, how coached she was and how utterly stupid in most areas (except for learning to keep saying Maverick, I was a Mayor, a hockey mom, a Gov.) It is great to watch someone be cutesy and silly and off the norm IF YOU WANT A LAUGH. But to sit and watch someone who could be (God Forbid) a president of my Country do those thngs made me sick. To try and get out of answering a question with the me not one of you and I will answer my way and not yours is Rude and shows how lost she is on a question. I want change (UNTIL LAST NIGHT I HAD NOT DECIDED) BUT I also want to feel safe with the vp that is chosen especially when the man at the top is McCain's age and we could end up with her as President in the first year. I happen to have moved to Az over ten years ago and I liked McCain and believed in him But I now believe that the religious right pushed Palin on him, he wanted someone else and I truly believed I would vote for him but when he came up with this cutesy woman that one minute is telling me how smart and great she is as a Gov. and all the things she has come up against and done for her state Then she uses this down home girl with all the things like all of you out there to excuse ALL OF HER LAPSES AND NOT knowing most of the area's that she is questioned about .. SHE is so far out of her league that I cry for McCain who I believe caved in to the far right in choosing her. I was not a Romney fan but he had class, and the know how for our economy. He chose her and I chose not to vote, she made a joke of the VP debate and I chose to vote so I could feel safe in my country and that is not with her anywhere near DC. One last thought, they both were wrong on some things they said But she was out and out wrong on the most important things to us average Americans. She said she is a strict law person THEN WHY IS SHE NOT RESPONDING TO THE JUDGE TO GO AND GIVE A STATEMENT, HOW DOES HER HUSBAND GET AWAY WITH NOT DOING IT. After all she is just a Gov. at this time and not some big shot who even as a VP should have to follow the law she loves so much.

If McCain's campaign leaves and concedes Ohio to Obama along with Michigan, we will know he's toast. Consider all the electoral votes in Michigan that have been now handed to Obama -- actually before Palin took the stage to debate Biden last night.

Everything now depends on how McCain looks. I listened on the radio to the first debate and Obama did marginally better (better than Biden did against Palin last night), but that first debate didn't yield a _real_ or _definitive_ standout of a winner. (It was even more close last night, effectively a draw -- one would have to strain if honest to say either did significantly better than the other. Last night's debate, Biden 53, Palin 47. Given a series of VP debates, the spread might be greater eventually.)

Everything is now up to McCain.

Oh, and Jill, that's "nucular," not "nuclear." (Was Palin coached to imitate _Bush_?)

Both candidates did okay. The universe (liberals, anyway) expected (and hoped) that Palin would fail miserably, and she did not. During the first part of the debate, she did better than Biden. She made one mistake (changing the subject rather than annihilating Biden about something he and Obama want to do: if I heard right, they want to reduce interest rates and _principal_ on outstanding home loans) and in my view was working to recover that superior position after that, and she didn't do this. Once or twice she did what McCain did that I didn't like to hear (or see), repeat typical sound bites in answering questions. She also failed to take Biden apart when Biden argued that progressive taxation is justified due to "fairness." It is nothing of the kind, and with the size of government Obama and Biden want, it will simply be impossible to tax those over $250,000 and reduce taxes on everyone else. The amount of income that needs to be taxed to support what the Dems want forces them to reach well down into the middle class portion of aggregate income. Biden probably had begun the debate deliberately in a timid or more accurately, careful and conservative manner but loosened up about the time he made the controversial statement about revising loan contracts and Palin didn't demolish it, and him. As Biden loosened up he began to do much bettter. I know everyone was afraid of Biden saying something stupid, but he didn't, he actually did quite well when he became animated, it's probably now worth the risk to "let Biden be Biden" out on the campaign trail and for the media to begin to cover him rather than avoid covering him to conceal his gaffes from the public (so as to continue supporting the Democratic Party this year, same as every other year). Overall, it was a draw. Both candidates did fine. It's a draw because honest people would have to strain to name a winner. Neither candidate stood out immediately as better and neither one did notably better.

I think a lot might depend on how McCain _looks_ during the next 2 debates. Several times recently he's he's looked like he's either really under severe stress, or else not physically well.
