Sad to say, both spellings of the “P” word look correct, to me. Does this qualify me to be the VP, or disqualify me?

jwest, referring to its content, not its source, explain why you thought the LA Times editorial was a good article. I ask because it appears to me the author argued that Palin should to be protected from the left wing blogosphere — which is arguable (as well as unlikely to be encountered) — but then extrapolated that to mean she should be protected from all media, which is absurd on its face.

I think it's fair to say we're all lucky there was never a “President” Quayle. As for Palin, don't you think it's a little sad the GOP has to go through all this maneuvering just to keep her out of the light of day? Don't republicans worry about this? If the GOP tells their base to all start wearing their pants backwards are they going to jump on that bandwagon too? Pardon me for not buying into the celebration of low standards.

His famous correction of the schoolboy – who actually spelled “potato” correctly – is one fo the great examples of why the United States does not need a Vice-President who is qualified to teach history . . . or even be able to spell.

Jwest . . . Yah, gotchas are a fact of life for conservatives.
But it is how it is reported that counts.

For example: Sen. Biden's comment about President FDR going on television when the stock market crashed in 1929.

Can you imagine what would happen had McCain or Palin made that remark?!!

The Intertubes themselves would totally collapse under the weight of the ensuing frenzy!

(I have to say, though, I like Biden. He has something of the batshit crazy charm of LBJ. Biden as Veep would be a feast for the nation's comedians.)

I think that this strategy is called “rope a dope”. We'll see if that is in fact the case when the VP debate finally comes around. Either that or neither she nor McCain is fit to lead the country.
