The blanket amnesty was the second time amnesty was tried. It may well be that another blanket one isn't needed, but not because the ridiculous claim that people will stop arriving illegally.
No, the reason a blanket amnesty won't be needed is because of the law of "arraigo", in which any illegal who can show they've been in the country for at least three years and has "roots" in the country (by being married to a legal immigrant or citizen, by having a child, or a job etc.) gets to be legal. Fun huh?

The voluntary return system is a friggen joke, an insult to our collective intelligence. Not only will there be few takers, but those that DO go back will be returning in short order. They're going to give them unemployment benefits (which are pretty big here) for three years. Once they have that money they can simply go back as illegals and start the process again.

Just a few days ago the government spent half a million euros to get a plane full of illegal African immigrants back to Gambia. The Gambian authorities sealed the doors to the plane, with the police inside (who were sent UNARMED) helpless to do anything. They had to fly back and now the government has set the illegals free.

And so it goes, they keep on coming, demanding their rights and yelling bigotry when they don't get their way. The political parties are so ineffective and tone-deaf that soon violence will start to break out. If you want to know what Spain will look like in a few years, look no further than Italy, where desperate people have started to take matters into their own hands because of a totally indifferent government.

Everywhere that blanket Amnesty has been tried, Including America, the results have been a dismal failure.

That is why the Immigration bill of last year failed miserably here in the US.
