Now that Bush-Cheny have seen the light of socialism, we have the tax payers bailing out the financial institutions that screwed them. Oh my, and McCain is now for regulation. Meanwhile the new credit card laws are still on the books, and the people who have over used their plastic will be held accountable to the last penny.

I want to hear from liberals and Democrats. Are they silent on this federal takeover of AIG (80 per cent equity ownership by the federal government)? This is not merely true socialism, it comes close to examples of Communism. Anyone who supports it is far from patriotic and faithful to our constitution, to say the very least.
And, of course, any bailout of the Big Three by the federal government deserves no more respect. (Toyota and other THRIVING US auto companies should immediately file suit against such a bailout to stop and later to punish it.)
Obama seized the moment, but failed. Doctor E: McCain, _Palin_, and Biden are all “ser.” Obama merely is “estar.” You no doubt understand the distinction and agree if you are honest.
Our constitution is tattered as is our bill of rights. Neither of the Pres. candidates have said a word about restoring habeas corpus, banning torture, Guantanamo, Spying on ourselves, etc, etc. Since the tearing down of the meaning of our constitution has been done by both major parties, and both parties will be supporting bills that bail out Wall street companies, — Who are you calling Unpatriotic? Who are you calling a Communist?
Since the word “liberal” has been rendered toxic, and a democrat, at least in governance, (with the exception of the ultra-right Neocon past 8 years) are not that much different from Repubs, especially if we all insist on governance from the center (whatever that means beyond dilution). I like to think I am a “progressive independent.” What is being pointed out in the progressive press I read is the hypocrisy of denying any type of “socialism” for the common American, but Gonzo socialism for failing corporations. Which speaks more to a government that is less democratic and more appropriately named an oligarchy (the moneyed), and, though not fully fascist, on its way to becoming more fundamentally religious and corporation minded instead of citizen minded, and increasingly authoritative and militaristic.

But seriously folks, as the old comics used to say, what can we do about a situation that gets crazier and more frightening even as mainstream mind shapers depict it as logical, democratic and sanity enhancing? More than ever, we need to question everything we are told by major media and our corporate government and to believe nothing until we are convinced by material evidence from sources we can trust. This means we should also question some of the gibberish that poses as independent media or online detective work, since many of the stories carried are on a par with the science fiction and fantasy we are given by our main stream consciousness corporadoes. Be critical and skeptical of all, and if you haven't the time to investigate, find someone you trust who has the time. And then continue being careful and critical of that source.
This government is a tragedy but it will be followed by one that is as tragic in that it will support the system with only cosmetic changes that may please some sectors – temporarily – while destroying others. Which is exactly what we are doing now, and have done for far too long. It is fast coming to a point at which we, and all inhabitants of the planet will have to act as though it’s all of us or none of us. And in the words of Rosa Luxemburg in the 20th century, echoed by Hugo Chavez, Evo Morales and growing numbers around the world in the 21st, we will face a choice: socialism or barbarism.
