Uncanny Palin Imitation

Just in case you somehow missed it, Tina Fey’s imitation of Sarah Palin on SNL isn’t just good… it’s downright scary. The accent, the pronunciation of certain words, the lilt in her voice on exclamatory points. And the look, with very little effort, is such that you could really confuse the two. (UPDATE below)

UPDATE: Via Hot Air, another one from Lisa Nova which is also kind of eerie. How many people are there running around who look that much like the Alsask Governor and can get her accent and speech patterns down this fast?

  • Oh that was good. I love this imitation of Sarah Palin. It's not nasty just funny. But that sad thing is that on some right wing blogs, a sizable amount of commenters kept saying "the won't go after Obama this hard". And I just shook my head. Obviously they forget the very funny skit that SNL did showing the media in the tank for Obama. Some pundits and bloggers showed how that Obama SNL sketch hurt him doing the primary.

Ah the great short memories of my wonderful Americans!
  • Sorry if that wasn't formatted well or spell checked. I'm trying to do this during time outs in the middle of the Giants game and the Jets are on in 1/2 hour. I'm lucky to hit the send button.
  • The auto-format took care of things Jazz. :-)

I saw Tina Fey last night, but hadn't seen the other one - which was seriously funny.

"I became stupider, having listened to that."

    Thank-you for the medicine.

quick study: the accent is easy:flatten vowels (mild-chicago-fargo-ish, with a slight hint of jesse ventura) and allow cadence of voice to go high on third or fourth beat, just short of whiney sing-song. Wear dark brown with coppery highlights wig, beehive with bangs to top of rimmless glasses-- about 2" tall lenses, and wear 'little suits' that Chanel would have liked for lady-ness quality without looking like a female version of a man's suit.

Use girl-jock gestures from time to time. Wear lipGLOSS. I thought that was funny when she told her pit bull story and pointed to her lips as she had on far more gloss than lipstick; ah the tiny details could drive us all mad...lol) And then one more thing, wear cute shoes, whether athletic, casual, or formal. Tah-da: Gov Palin.

Tina Fey was phenomenal there- everyone knew she'd have the look down but the accent, inflections, and gestures were great too. And the mark of good political humor is that it's funny whether they're making fun of 'your side' or the other guys, and this skit hit the mark- I literally LOL'd through the whole thing (some of the gags against Palin were too predictable, but for example I loved the global warming line.)

Nice to see SNL still has some good writers.

Governor Palin is harder to pin down than a greased Berkshire on a Slip 'n' Slide during a olive oil squirt gun fight. http://www.236.com/blog/w/will_durst/the_unkosh...
Er even a pig looks like Sarah Palin with the right lipstick... or something.

Tina Fey's impersonation is the only one of these two that nails it, in my opinion... the other one can't even come close. Tina's was hilarious!! I'm a Sarah Palin fan and thought the skit was definitely exaggerated, but I got such a kick out of it! It's amazing how well she does the facial expressions - and the voice!! What a great actress!
