What Can We do About 9/11 Conspiracies? … ‘Nothing or Little’: La Dapeche, France
‘Truthers’ as they are called, exist around the world. They believe that in one way or another, the U.S. government was involved in the 9-11 attacks. Can anything be done to quell this movement of people that question all of the best scientific evidence and experts of all kinds?
For the French newspaper La Depeche, Jean-Christophe Giesbert writes of the problem:

If you believe the conspiracy people – they call themselves Truthers – it was the White House who allegedly ordered the destruction of the World Trade Center with explosives to incriminate the Islamists and justify the invasion of Iraq. For some, the Boeings on which several hundred passengers were killed were actually military aircraft or remotely piloted drones; for others, the explosion of the Towers was a video trick. It’s so sad one could cry.

First of all, no one in the 9/11 truth movement believes the explosion of the Twin Towers was a video trick…
Many believe that no airplanes were used in the crime, just bombs or missiles, and that airplane graphics were superimposed to give an official story to the public. It should be noted that many, many people who were speaking with the press LIVE on television said they did not see a plane, rather just an explosion.
It should also be noted that the Pentagon appeared to have been hit by a missile, not a plane. The CNN reporter who gave the first broadcast live from the Pentagon said it didn't seem that a plane hit the Pentagon at all. Any cursory examination of the evidence will reveal that not a single surveillance camera shows an airplane. So how can you say that truthers “question all of the best scientific evidence and experts of all kinds.” In fact, it is you who questions the best scientific evidence. You say, “there was a plane because they told me there was on TV” when in fact the videos show otherwise.
A member of Bush's cabinet wrote an expose about how invading Iraq was priority #1 beginning with the first National Security Council meeting on January 3rd, 2001. The question he posed was “how are we going to do this?” And then, tada! Nine months later, the “how” lands right at their feet. Coincidence?
The Secretary of Transportation testified under oath to Congress that a representative from NORAD came to Dick Cheney with updates about the second plane and asked “do the orders still stand?” to which he replied “Why wouldn't they? Have you heard otherwise?”
Finally, both the nation's political and economic capital (DC and NY) are very heavily guarded by military. It should have been easy to stop ALL four “planes” before they hit their targets, yet no fighter jets were even scrambled. Why? Were these the orders Dick Cheney was speaking to NORAD about? Probably because there were no planes in the sky, just blips on a screen timed to arrive in New York at the same time that a bomb would go off in the second tower, or a missile would strike it.
It has taken several years, but we finally have all of the pieces together. We now understand what happened. So the question should really be, “many people still believe the official story of 9/11 and what should we do about that?”
