Giordano has been absolutely spot on in analyzing the underpinnings of this election cycle since he began blogging it. He knows of what he speaks when it comes to the soft power of organization, and its effect.

While I can't agree with his praise or work with some of the more radical (and I think destructive) organizers of the 60s, that experience and the years that have followed seem to have made him singularly able to describe how Obama defeated the Clinton machine before they knew what hit them, and how he is defeating John McCain even as the day's headlines would have you believe otherwise.

Should Obama lose Giordano, I'll know he's in trouble. It hasn't happened yet.

I keep saying this. Everyone has forgotten Iowa a year ago. Obama was down in the polls and under the radar alot. When he emerged at the JJ dinner he had built an awesome game and that is how he beat the Clinton machine.
I hear the McCain camp has about the same ground game as Clinton did.
Why do you think Obama is not worried while democrats are hand wringing over every little thing.

Ditto what pacatrue said. Thanks for the great link Joe. Even that portion of the electorate which is passing on may be a factor in this election. I think it's well know the elderly turn out in higher numbers than youth, but perhaps the youth vote will be a significant contribution this time (for a change). And of course the black vote is expected to be higher then usual this election.

Terrific analysis, particularly the demographic changes as well as the nice summary, "It really is a ground game. The 2008 presidential election is about registering those voters mentioned above, and getting them out to vote. Period. End of story. Little else matters."

Makes me want to rush out and volunteer somehow. Unfortunately, I've never lived in a battleground state in my life. Always 15 points red or 15 points blue.
