Is Attacking Palin “Sexist”?

A sample of some differing views.

  • Silhouette
If the attack is about her unfitness to lead because she has borne children, or because she has "duties in the home", or because she might have her period while we're under attack...then yes, the attacks are sexist.

If they are on her credentials alone, no, not at all. They are fair game.

And on that subject, when are the real issues going to take a front seat to tabloid gossip? The more air time you give Palin it seems...the more popular she gets. I guess she has had the most search-engine hits of any of the four candidates running. That could be good, or not so good for Obama whose whole gig seemed to hinge on being THE popular one.

Now that his gig is undone, he might want to focus on....

    Oh, nevermind...

I’ll agree with Sil on the sexist points.

On a different but related topic, would the bio on Cindy McCain that played during the convention merit an article?

I don’t know about you, but there sure was a lot more to her than I had heard previously. Hey, she’s no Michelle Obama, but some people enjoy hearing about rich, white women.

jwest: on Cindy McCain.... there is more to her... Cindy is doing admirable work with her charitable causes. And she has overcome drug addiction, she should be applauded for her determination. Many people fail with this.

Between her convention speech and her husband's I kept thinking that is the two faces of the GOP: being Christians and doing charitable work, and then "war, war, war" or as John McCain put it a few months ago, "bomb, bomb, bomb Iran". And the fact that they coexist side by side without irony in the Republican Party is interesting...
