It appears that the gal who should be in Biden’s spot has a number of “other commitments” that will prevent her from doing a lot of campaigning for Obama.

Excellent response & I also think that if he can “rein it in” a tad during the debates, he'll come out on top. He's earned his stripes by living it. Palin's currently have Repub Talking Points TM poured into her by Joe LIEberman.

While Biden has difficulty controlling his mouth, in debates he really is strong.

Nevertheless, she seems pretty formidable as well. The debate format, unless the mod really puts the detail screws to her, may permit her to gloss her answers. I think the real question comes when she goes through the press gauntlet (that she may manage to avoid completely if Nicole Wallace's approach is followed).

Agree with Elrod, Biden's outrage is genuine – as well it should be. I am so tired of contrived personas. After the last convention it's good to hear someone talk who is proven and capable… and not trying to put one over on people.

I think it will be critical in the debates for Palin to keep the conversation about principle, morals, role of America in the world, i.e., higher level things. If she's forced into a tit for tat with Biden that requires intimate knowledge of leaders around the world, histories of nations, the details of treaties, etc., then she's going to be in trouble. Not because she isn't as smart as Biden, but because she's got 4 weeks to cram in the foreign policy knowledge that Biden's been living almost daily for 3 decades. Biden would equally be lost in the minutiae of Alaskan politics and issues.

Should be an interesting debate. My money is on Palin. Joe's biggest problem has always been his own mouth, and in a debate he's going to relly have to control it, if he doesn't Palin will probably shred him, if he is able to, he might have a chance.

Biden is a LOT better on the stump than I thought. He gets right to the point, which I didn't think possible. And his outrage is genuine.

I'm still undecided in this campaign, and Biden is not as articulate as Obama, but I am thoroughly disgusted with the Republican performance this past election for all the reasons that he mentioned and then some.
