Chris -- Palin is not hidden, or sequestered, obviously. She has stolen the show this week. McCain will have to risk a good deal of his possible success on her continued appeal, enabling him to "follow through" or at least, in his case, persist on a sufficient level of success to have a chance at winning by default (the rest of his success will depend on to what extent Obama-Biden makes those who pay so much of the taxes nervous). Palin is attractive and helps allay the dissatisfaction (when it is not disgust) so many voters have with the GOP (they're not party-bound, as you saw in 2006).

Just ask K. Ritter, one of the bartenders (no other occupation as well!), who disdains the sheriff and can't stand the banker.

In the Washington Saloon, neither George W. Bush (the oft-confused sheriff; the town is run by the stern banker) nor John McCain (the old Indian fighter now settled at the bar hoping to get the seat the sheriff likes to occupy) are John Wayne.

Ronald Reagan might have been able to do an imitation, right after attacking Libya, and if he were more deft at handling public relations with Soviet-proxy wars in this hemisphere.

Seriously though, we'll have to wait and see how often the McCain camp lets Palin out of hiding. She could certainly steal the spotlight if given free reign.
