Will McCain Be Hurt By Viewer Fatigue ?

Over the last couple of days I have begun to wonder if Senator McCain might be hurt by viewer fatigue.

I don’t mean to ask this question in a partisan sense but rather in a more general sense. If you think about it we have had over a month worth of ‘events’ for the average viewer to deal with. First a couple weeks of the Olympics, then the Democratic convention and now the Republican one.

In addition there have been a series of smaller events from the controversies over the Olympics being in China before the games to Gustav last week. All of these events have come one after the other.

To top that off we have the start of school occupying the minds of many families with children, the approach of Hurricane Hanna distracting the Southeastern US and the start of the American Football season.

Adding all this up leads me to wonder if tonight we might see more viewers than McCain would like tune out. Not because they have any issue with him or the GOP but just because they are worn out by the continual flow recently of ‘got to see it events’.

You forgot one thing: It's football time. Giants vs. Redskins is a big TV draw. I'm watching it.
  • Actually I did mention the start of football season.

I'm personally more interested in the Cubs getting out of their slump....

But the game will be over before he speaks.

I'm a people watcher and I can't help but notice that the Republicans all pretty much look the same.

Their whole convention is bland and uninviting.

    No interest.

Patrick, it's possible you are right about McCain and viewer fatigue, but I think the same could be said of Obama. In fact it might have had a greater effect on Obama since he was in the spotlight for so long. I know we're rolling up on November pretty fast now, but I still think it's going to seem like a long 2 months, so we'll likely have the chance to get thoroughly bored with every last one of em, McCain, Obama, Palin, Biden, Cindy, Michelle, and all the little rug rats too. I guess we'll just have to make the best of it.

Palin certainly seem to like the limelight.
Now if only someone other than Fox Noise would ask her some adult questions.
