Let's see…an ex-beauty pagent winner…with a undergraduate degree in jounalism…who does not believe in global warming…who does believe a woman should have no control over her own body and for 9 months should be viewed as nothing more than a baby container…who's main attributes seem to be stubborness and vicious competiveness… who has had next to no experience in goverment…who has a currently very messy family situation given that she had recently given birth to a downs syndrome baby, has a 17 year old daughter who is unwed and pregnant and is facing investigation for using her political office to smear her ex-brother-in-law and get him fired (he is in a custody battle with her sister)…who seems to be in bed with big oil…who is running for VP…whose running mate is 72 and is a cancer survivor…who has no foreign policy background and in fact has only been out of the country twice…who may become President of the country I love at a time when it faces the most complex foreign policy issues, economic issues and domestic issues it has in decades…Why does this sound like a totally unbelievably bad novel???? I for one am terrified and can not understand what Mr. McCain was thinking!!!!

I do hope Hillary will make clear to her supporters, as she did at the DNC, that McCain/Palin is the exact opposite of what she has fought for her entire life, and that if any of her supporters vote GOP they will be betraying her and her life's work.

I think jwest is wrong about Hillary. She's smarter than you apparently think. The Supreme Court that would emerge from 4 more years of Bush/McCain would sink her hopes and ours for decades; for the rest of Hillary's life, and most of the adult lives of her supporters and their children. Under a more radical court, as McCain intends to create, her supporters and their female children will lose control of their own health decisions, lose the checks and balances against the imperial presidency or "unitary executive", and even lose the right not to be kidnapped and tortured by their own government, without cause or recourse.

No, this is where Senator Hillary Clinton gets to prove all the dark cynics here wrong. I believe she is more dedicated to her ideals than you think. She will make it abundantly clear that Palin is NO Hillary Clinton and would hurt, rather than help, the cause of women. An Alito clone or two on the court and Hillary's entire fight is over for good. Even if she did become the next president, it would be too late for women, and too late for her legacy.

Hmmm… maybe immediately following the R convention Obama ought to let it be know that Hillary would be his first choice for Secretary of State. Then again, if McCain's speech is off-putting enough, it might be best to let it soak in for awhile. What to do, what to do…

Gallop seems to be the outlier here, showing the race outside the margin of error using registered as opposed to likely voters. Rasmussen used a bigger sample with the likely voters and shows it Obama +3 (pretty bad after a convention).

As far as Hillary working “extra hard” because of Palin, this is the type of analysis we’ve come to expect from the New York Times.

If anything, Hillary is hoping McCain/Palin win for two reasons.

One: It provides the “I told you so” factor.

Two: It gives her another shot in 2012.
