		<description>It is just another sign that the U.S. will soon be a one party state.  Why would anyone want to be a Republican in New York when there is not future. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;A better quesiton is what is going to happen to the standard November general election date when there will be no meaningful races in those elections.  Where I live in Virginia, there will probably not be a single competative eleciton in November. Why bothering to go to the polls when all of the elections were settled in the Democratic Primary back in May?</description>

		<description>We are seeing the same thing here in Oregon.  The Republicans didn&#039;t even field a candidate for State treasurer.  In a historically red state legislative district in southern Oregon a Democrat won in 2006. One would have thought the Republicans could win it back this year but again there is no Republican on the ballot.</description>
