I agree the fact that millions have elected Obama is indeed deeply
disturbing, but lets face it the average person who votes in primaries and
elections is not well informed. As well informed voters it is our
responsibility to inform others. Obama claims to be a man of integrity, yet
after promising to filibuster any law granting retroactive immunity to
telecoms he did the reverse and voted for Dick Cheney's FISA bill. He also
called folks liars for bringing to light that he stopped legislation that
would have protected babies born during an abortion if they were born live.
His statements on this have been demonstrated to be false and yet he
slanders others who stated the truth. Obama simply does not have the morals
to lead our nation. I hope you help to get that message out.

I suppose what bothers me is that even with his inexperience, millions have ELECTED Obama to be a candidate for president, while Palin was haphazardly SELECTED by a single, possibly senile old man, who met her twice.

We've got two months to decide if we the people agree. I may have considered McCain but he has introduced an element of risk that is very high given his age.

Obama who had zero foreign policy experience.

Simply bullsh**. I mean honestly. Are you trying to be an idiot?

redfish,
You're right. I was being unfair. For what it's worth I don't think Biden's foreign policy cred is very good either. He has tons of experience, but his judgment has generally been opposed to Obama's (who I agree with).

Sarah Palin was chosen to help McCain with domestic issues the same way Joe Biden was chosen to help Obama who had zero foreign policy experience.

Quick question, Who would you rather have with limited experience, a President or a Vice President?

"Illogical."

I explained why. Biden is a complete idiot about foreign policy, I think if he were ever President he would be worse than Bush. You'd rather ignore what I said and make a knee-jerk response.

Speaking of nonsense, Lindsay Graham was on with Wolf Blitzer (there's the animal tie-in -- well, that and the fact that Graham is often described by the left as one of McCain's poodles, lol!) yesterday. When asked about whether Palin had the chops (yeah I know, another canine allusion) to be a heartbeat away from the presidency, he told Wolf "If she can handle Ted Stevens she can handle the Russians".

There are two things wrong with that, of course: (1) it's a ridiculous comparison, and; (2) to suggest she's handled Ted Stevens is itself ridiculous.

Now back to cats...

Oh yeah, this was supposed to be about cats right? ;-) Sorry bout getting all earnest. I have two cats, one that's very socially interactive and personable, another that prefers to be left alone much of the time, and my dog is an aussie - which means she's all about being a devoted, high energy sidekick. They are SO lucky not to be burdened with politics in their lives. ;-)

How about we all make an effort to be honest and thoughtful about this (for a moment) and check the kneejerk opining. There is no doubt that Palin was chosen as a reaction to the dynamics going on in Obama's campaign. In otherwords, it wasn't a choice researched objectively on it's own merits, it was a choice based on strategy, and that strategy was based on her sex and her ideology, not for her abilities or experience. How many of us had even heard of her before yesterday? Wake up folks, this is a person who, if John McCain died in office (the likelyhood which must be considered) would be president of the USA. Let's all fire up our thinkolaters now, put our egos and our favorite team on hold, and THINK about the COUNTRY for a change. We've had the opportunity for 8 years now to see what happens when amateurs and idealogues run the executive office. Have we learned anything from this politics of inability and division? OK, you can stop thinking now... if you must.

"[Sarah Palin is] going to learn national security at the foot of the master for the next four years, and most doctors think that he'll be around at least that long," said Charlie Black, one of Mr. McCain's top advisers, making light of concerns about Mr. McCain's health, which Mr. McCain's doctors reported as excellent in May.

So, the McCain camp admits she has no experience. And jokes that McCain will probably live another four years.

Did your cat beat two incumbents to become the Governor of a state?
That is some cat, I wish my cats were more ambitious or didn't just sleep on the couch so much.

I'm a pretty moderate voter, but even given Palin's scant foreign policy experience, I think I can trust her more than I can trust Biden.

Illogical.

McCain's choice of Palin as VP has really bothered me, but I have had a hard time putting my finger on the reasons. I thought it over, and it boils down to this: it looks like he chose impulsively and impulsivity is not something I want in a president. Even more concerning for me, it seems to reflect an attitude that characterized the Bush administration: anybody can step up and be in charge of an important position in our government. Bush has appointed loyalists to important positions (Alberto Gonzales, Michael Brown, Harriet Miers for Supreme Court justice) and these people have foolishly stepped into positions way over their heads (conservatives saved us from Harriet Miers) to the detriment of our country. Bush either didn't care or didn't realize these people were not competent for the position he appointed them. So McCain found someone who has apparently been doing good things for AK and fought her own party on corruption, which is great for her as AK governor, but said she doesn't know what the VP does all day and apparently would consider the job if it's good for what she is trying to do in AK? She doesn't seem to get that she's competent in her current position but doesn't automatically translate into competency in a national position. I want someone who can see when they are a big fish in a small pond and has the wisdom and guts to tell the truth about it.
I

I just want to note, I don't trust Biden being President either. I've been reading a lot about his record in the last week or so, and even throughout Ronald Reagan's term Biden was an ardent promoter of Carter's failed foreign policy. Recently, he made an off the cuff suggestion of sending Iran $200 million subsidies without strings attached, just to make them feel like we're they're friends. His plan to split Iraq into three regions was ridiculous and it wouldn't have solved any more problems than splitting Yugoslavia did. (or the US having North and South regions before the Civil War) We're starting to also see that it was superfluous.

Biden's foreign policy experience is sounding more and more to me like "I'm not a foreign policy expert, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night"--meaning--the guy is an arrogant blowhard who thinks he understands more than he does.

People on the left should also think about the fact that Biden claimed that he 'wrote' Ashcroft's anti-terrorism bill, because he proposed the same bill before 9/11 occurred. Apparently his original bill was opposed by small government conservatives and civil libertarians.

I'm a pretty moderate voter, but even given Palin's scant foreign policy experience, I think I can trust her more than I can trust Biden.
