Look familiar?

I found the lurid entertainment thing to be vulgar. That included the use of the Greek columns, which weren't applied intelligently nor incorporated cleverly in Obama's speech; it was just gimmicky window-dressing for Obama (the gladiator?) on the screen. The info-tainment quality of news and info-tainment quality of sports now (it's now expected to have Hollywood-style entertainment at playoff games as well as in the Super Bowl; I'd rather see something like next year's first round draft choices introduced at halftime, say) is a “vulgarized” and cheapened American Idol quality to programming that you'll notice is reflected in the superficiality and PC fad underlying so much support for Obama this year and (as with athletes and performance artists) is associated with the celebrity and personality phenomena.

Even worse than that (again, Obama's speech was great; it was the vulgar “politico-tainment” and Hollywood-loves-Demmies stuff that was actually objectionable) was that the “objective” reporters in the liberal media that fools and troublemakers deny exists were dancing to the music _and_ were observed applauding parts of Obama's speech.

The liberal media was an irritation, though nothing surprising. But the Super Bowl entertainment nonsense got me to thinking because while perhaps twenty years ago people would have howled and rightfully so if the GOP had commercialized its convention the way pro sports began to be commercialized in the 1980s (though in practice the Dems would be as willing or more willing to do this, selling “favors”), it is an even worse step when politics is dumbed down and made more appealing to children (including those old enough to know better) and merging, combining, or even confusing entertainment and emotional appeal with politics and serious decision making. Oh, well, I guess that's what it takes to get the American Idol crowd motivated to vote. (It probably has succeeded in getting more young people to register as Democrats.)

Great speech. Gimmicky polito-tainment nonsense should be dispensed with. (GOP campaign sub-theme: “The party of adults.”) Olbermann was and is a POS.

But McCain was ONE of the Keating five, not just a friend of one. And while Obama knows some folks with odd ideas, McCain supports, accepts, adopts and pledges to adhere to the failed policies of Bush Cheney and Rove. Game, set and match to Obama on that issue. Obama has never espoused or adopted the radical views of Wright or Ayers. McCain has espoused, adopted and pledged allegiance to his demons.

What does that say about McCain's character?

“Judge a man by the content of his character, not the color of his skin”.

The entire Ayers/Wright controversy is a window into the character of Obama. He chose to associate with an unrepentant terrorist. He chose to be the “nephew” of the crazy racist Wright.

If these are the people he chooses as friends and mentors, what does that say about his character?

Bill Ayers will become a household word.

And wait until the main event – our favorite pastor, the Right Reverend Wright, who is about to have more air time than Michael Jordan.

Yes folks, let’s see how “God Damn America” plays in Peoria. The “Chickens are coming home to Roost”.

The best 527 ads will start with a replay of Wright’s greatest hits, then a serious voice-over saying:

“Someone with character would have left a church that spewed racist talk.”

(one more short burst of Wright’s venom)

“A leader with character would have stood up in the church and denounced this hate speech.”

“Barak Obama attended Jeremiah Wright’s church for 20 years. He and his wife were married by Reverend Wright. Barak Obama EVEN had his CHILDREN baptized by this man.”

“America needs leaders with character. (etc….etc….etc.)”

Better send your candidate some more money – he’s going to need it.
