My grandmother called me and it was obvious she was choked up. She just said:
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is smiling right now.
She marched with MLK in Selma, Alabama back in 1955. I have to admit, with all my hatred of the two-party system, it made me proud that a black person "got there". It just seems to affirm even more the greatness of our country. Doesn't matter if Obama wins or loses, my children officially saw history and can say (I just have to say it now so excuse me): Yes we can!

Hey- TS- I'm not black, but I got all weepy when John Lewis was talking about the civil rights movement and how this made all of the suffering worth it. It will be seen as a very big moment in US history, and Obama is the perfect man to be leading us in it.
