I totally agree on the getting rid of the culture war BS. To paraphrase Forrest Gump's mother, “BS is as BS does,” and that BS has done nothing good for this country.

I have never been more excited about a candidate than Obama. I think it's a generational thing to be honest. I just turned 35 and can now serve as President of the United States and yet McCain is more than twice my age. Obama is not only just 12 years older than me. He speaks to the concerns of my generation and his pragmatic post-Boomer discourse resonates with people like me who are ready to get beyond all the culture war crap.

Exactly which Barr are you voting for? Barr pre 2005 or Barr post 2005?

Because the two Barr's have absolutely nothing in common.

Heck, Romney looks at Barr and says "Wow, talk about your feather in the wind!".

I'm trying to remember the last time I was genuinely excited about voting FOR a candidate, and not simply voting “against” one or, as pacatrue said, the lesser of two evils. Probably the first term of Reagan. (By the second term, the shine was already off the apple.) George Bush the elder was pretty good as a president, but terrible as a politician. I voted for Clinton the second time he was up, but I wasn't all that excited.

I voted 3rd party in 2000 because I couldn't stand either GWB or Gore at the time. I thought Kerry was an idiot but voted for him only as a vote *against* GWB and the war in Iraq. This time I'll most likely wind up voting for Barr, who I actually do find exciting and taking on issues I care about, but he has no chance of winning. There just aren't major party candidates who are attractive to small government paleoconservatives.

I like the first cartoon; particularly, how the voter doesn't feel super-pleased with the pick she feels she has to make at the end. I dare say that many Americans (most?) have to vote for the lesser of evils usually.
