It’s nice to finally see a left-of-center voice here. Normally we’re inundated with right-wing propaganda.

Hopefully, these 527 organizations can be prevented from discussing Obama’s friendship with an unrepentant terrorist like Bill Ayers. There is absolutely no reason voters should take into consideration who Obama chose to associate with in his short political career.

527s were designed to stick to the issues. If laws were passed to limit the discussion to how many black churches would burn if George Bush was elected, or how he secretly allowed the dragging death of black man, the public would be far better served.

THis strategy will probably backfire on Obama. While I'm all for the tightening of campaign finance reforms and am certain that the group is exploiting legal loopholes to get 527 status (like just about every other 527 pro-McCain or pro-Obama alike) going after this one will only serve to highlight the Obama connection with Bill Ayers, something that wont bode well for the Obama campaign. The McCain campaign will be delighted at the Obama camps efforts for that reason, its basically using Obama dollars to fuel a Republican talking point, and McCain himself can remain clean on this since his campaign isn't involved with the ad.

Will Obama's efforts supress donations to the group? I seriously doubt it, 527 supporters aren't likely to bow down to threats of prosecution when the law is on their side. Yes the law is flawed, but you can't prosecute someone for abiding by the letter of a flawed law. All Obama will achieve is to feed amunition into the guns that are shooting at him.
