This choice confirms what we all know. Obama is not ready for the job of president of the United States.

Assuming this logic is accurate, then McCain's task is to convince people he's not past ready. I suspect that's not going to be an easy task.

Now let's assume the logic is inaccurate, i.e., that Obama believes he is ready to be president. Why would he have picked Biden? I would say because he wants to get things done. And for that he needs a strong bridge to the legislative branch. Looked at that way, who better than Biden? Lyndon Johnson may have been a better choice, but he's dead. But like Johnson, Biden knows the legislative branch inside and out. But at the same time he is someone who has not succumbed to the trappings of power for self enrichment. In that respect he is the quintessential insider's outsider.

Personally, I think both are accurate to some degree. I haven't noticed as yet anyone of import drawing the parallels between Obama's selection of Biden and Kennedy's selection of Johnson, so maybe it's just me. Be that as it may, it seems to me there are many.

Who cares who the VP candidate. All Biden will be as a trivia question in a few decades. Senator Obama could have picked Snoop Dogg and he will still win the election in November. It would be much more interesting to hear who will be the Chief of Staff given that having two senators at the top of the executive branch will mean someone else is going to have to go the heavy lifting. In addition, it would be more interesting to hear who Obama plans for his cabinet. That information would let us know where Senator Obama is on the issues much more than worrying about Joe Biden.

Once again, the most imortant question in the 2008 election cycle is whether the Democrats get to 60 seats in the Senate. Given the dialy demonstration of the incompetence of the Republicans, it looks like that will happen.

Also, will the Republicans reach the tipping point of incomtence and irrelevance when Senator Ted Stevens wins the Republican Primary in Alaska during the Democratic convention?

How does this Veep choice play with me.

Well that fact that he went after the most entrenched Democrat in congress who has massive foreign policy experience and who can teach him how to be president:

It simply confirms what everyones been saying. He is a clueless politician who has been in the Senate 3 years and been running for President two of those years. Hes not even sure where the mens room is at and now the DNC offered him a coach. Their best coach. Their most Demcratically faithful coach to take him by the hand and tell him what he needs to know as he bids to lead this nation thru foreign and domestic minefileds.

This choice confirms what we all know. Obama is not ready for the job of president of the United States. He knows it, The DNC knows it, the GOP knows it and now he has admitted it.
