		<description>From my perspective as a Yank, I would agree that Menzies was a great PM, and although he would not have appreciated it at the time, he caught a break being bumped during the war years when Australia went through convulsions (enormous labor unrest that sullied the war effort and tremendous problems with the Army in the latter war years) that not even he could have dealt with.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I would rank Howard much higher even through we are polar opposites politically because his stewardship of the economy was near brilliant.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;In any event, a fascinating post.</description>
