This is not a surprise, though the timing, right before the conventions, seems a bit odd. I wonder: Will McCain and Obama have anything left to debate?

The devil, as they say, is in the details. The withdrawal involves only so-called combat troops. Many tens of thousands will remain and you'd better believe they know how to handle a rifle.
There's still plenty to ask Obama and McCain about.
