Bad Rhetoric

I don’t like hearing it under any circumstances, but John McCain sure seems to find the worst situations to use the phrase “Judeo-Christian”, doesn’t he?

I've always been puzzled how anyone could even try getting away with “Christian Values” or “Jewish Values” as if they were these perfectly homogeneous groups. There are huge variations among Christian sects, which one can readily find by visiting a Southern Baptist church and then going to a non-demoninational church on the West Coast. Even among the Jews, talk to some of the reformed temple members and then sit down with the ultra-orthadox wing. We don't have one set of values for any group of people bigger than three. But I agree with your basic premise, at least in as much as the term is used divisively all over the place in a time when the last thing we need is more drawing of lines.

Especially when they're drawn with crayons.

I fear John McCain would have as 2 dimensional a view of Iran as GWB does (and that probably applies to other countries as well). I don't think the US can really afford another leader who holds such provincial worldviews.
