T-Steel,

I always suspected taht the networks play up basketball in order to attract black viewers. To me the sports can can be seen in other venues, "basketball, baseball, tennis" are the worst olympic sports because everyone knows what the sports is suppose to look like. However, few american know what badmitton or dressage is suppose to look like.

If you saw the comments by Cincinatti Bengal Chad Johnson on ESPN's PTI you probably saw what most blacks think about the Olympics.

I find women's beach volleyball boring, too, :) Though come to think about it perhaps I can catch up on my sleep while volleyball is on. I guess I should be thankful for women's beach volleyball after all! ;)

The oddest party about Olympics coverage is that ESPN, the sports network, is barely covering it while NPR and PBS have staffs of reporters in China

The Olympics have become just another trendy item of "Stuff White People LIke."

I agree we in California can watch them live, or at a much more sensible time since they're taped, than at midnight. If they're live at 10 pm in NY, then, as you pointed out, why can't they be live at 7 pm in California? For those of us who work NY hours in California, watching until after midnight in CA is like watching them until after 3 am in NY, and then you have to be up for work in a couple hours. All week I've found myself beginning to doze in my office in the mid to late afternoon. At least I can close my door.

Also I hate all those friggin' commercials. I timed it one night and in the span of an hour there were more commercials than games.
