Maybe they're just avoiding Bush and Cheney, not McCain?
It's likely that they hope to avoid association with all three. Avoiding Bush and Cheney helps with the moderates while avoiding McCain helps with the Republican base.
It's not the GOP's year. All the signs, including convention-skipping and avoidance of endorsement tours by Bush and Cheney, illustrate this.
I'm not excited about the GOP convention either.
And yet the “Maverick” chooses Bush AND Cheney to be his keynote speakers…along with “hop the fence” Zel Lieberman.
