The only headliners I'm familiar with are Marcia Ball, David Bromberg, Robert Cray, Dan Hicks, and Keb Mo. But IMO, them alone would be worth the price of admission -- whatever it is. I've never seen Keb Mo live, so I can't say. But the others are much better live than recorded. Chances are the others are too. I wish I could attend.

Shaun,

Great post...by the sounds of things you should have yourself a great time. Festivals in mid to late summer can be just what the doctor ordered. I've been fortunate enough to attend the 10,000 Lakes Festival in MN several times, in addition to Wakarusa in KS, and Bonnaroo in TN, just to name a few. Although some of these venues have turned into big commercial entities now, when I went there it was a great experience plain and simple. Although there was a certain political climate in the air, I don't ever remember anybody actually arguing politics.

If you ever get the chance, I would highly recommend going to Alpine Valley or the Apple River in WI, especially in the summer. Nothing says summer like great outdoor music and tubing down the Apple river with a cooler trailing behind you in its own tube...
