I was immensely sympathetic to Elizabeth Edwards when this story broke…until I read her statements above. She lists human weakness as cause of her family's pain and then goes on to dismiss that and pin all the blame on sensationalistic reporters? Back up to cause #2, Elizabeth, and stop there- the blame rests with your husband's roving eye, male ego, and incredible hubris. For you to forgive these weaknesses in your husband is your own private matter and no one else's business, but for you to have willingly colluded with him to promote his candidacy, asking thousands of people to donate their time and treasure toward getting him elected, while you and he knew that these skeletons were in the closet, takes away from any sympathy and admiration I may have once held for you. And blaming it on those who stumbled upon the skeletons just takes the cake.

Elizabeth Edwards is blaming the media for the hurt her family has been through. Hellloooo Elizabeth – don't look now, but it is your husband who has caused this hurt. I am sickened by the fact you are covering up for the scum. When are women going to end this behavior by men? Why should men stop their philandering. There's always a Mrs. Clinton, Mrs. Edwards, Mrs. Spitzer, etc., standing by their man.
