Look lib-Demmies — Edwards has Toxified himself. It tarnishes the Dems, as similar things have before. Deal with it. Honestly and practically, if not yet effectively, either.

Don't be surprised if the media chooses as its next step a rehash of Republican affairs and other related misconduct such as that of Newt Gingrich “to put things into proper perspective.”

Evade, delay, suppress anything that would harm Obama and the Dems this year.

That is what would be admitted if the media were more honest themselves.

That is, _more_ damage. He was already disgraced for good as of the sordid pardons as his Presidential postscript.

He didn’t learn the damage-control lesson of former President Bill Clinton or former Colorado Senator Gary Hart which means he wasn’t/isn’t as smart as some/he thought he was. If you deny press reports about a scandal and just keep hoping it’ll go away, it often doesn’t. And the repeated denials are covered so much that if proof later comes out that you lied it is one big, fat legitimate story.

I'm pretty sure Billy denied the Lewinsky thing on TV, perjured himself in court and so on. And yet, his political star seems to have only recently taken damage because of his conduct during his wife's primary.

Maybe all is forgiven when you're a winner?

It will be interesting whether the “mainstream media” looks into this question.

Talk about getting scooped.

I loved this quote in particular:
“In recent weeks, Mr. Edwards had been asked at several public appearances – including in Washington, D.C., and elsewhere for comment about being seen at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles while Ms. Hunter was staying there – an incident that the National Enquirer reported last month. At one point, Mr. Edwards called the account “tabloid trash.” And in Washington recently, he declined to answer any questions.”

Of course, neither the New York Times, nor any of its bloggers, reported this story “in recent weeks”.

I expect the MSM will find another excuse to avoid this story, and looking further into Edwards' web of lies.

Maybe: “Well, everyone knows about it now. So there is no need to report on it, is there?”

The MSM took major damage from conservatives on this file for weeks — the Kausfiles were a one-man front in this campaign — denouncing the MSM's obvious bias in their sheltering Edwards for so long (vs trumpeting GOP scandals).

Polls consistently show Americans believe the MSM tends to support the Democrats. It will be all that much harder now for the media to hold on to its fig leaf of political neutrality.

Edwards will pay for the MSM's embarrassment.
