That's the opposite of what feminism should inspire: not dependency, but a can-do spirit. There is something deeply, deeply wrong with some of Hillary's female fans, and I'm not sure she's above exploiting them for her own benefit.

Though I wouldn't be surprised if Hill's supporters do vote for her in the first vote, just to get in the record, or something… and then vote for Obama after. I don't much care for that either.

BTW: the country would go nuts over this (if Hillary made a true ambush attempt, far and above just the first vote thing) and it would put McCain in the WH regardless of who he was facing. So many Americans believe that the Dems can't get their act together and this would prove them right. The only folks who would be happy for this are those fringe loonies who still defy the laws of common sense and support Hillary over party unity. If Hillary did hijack the nomination and lost the election to McCain, those folks would blame everyone (including Obama) but Hillary.

And wishing away reality, hoping it will substitute for good planning..

The universe I live in has some “extenuating circumstances” with reference to the strength of Obama's campaign, and more importantly, his electability..

Obama has certain….liabilities…as a candidate. He's just barely pulling a smidgen above even with McCain right now. If any scandal should “accidentally” be leaked to mainstream press covertly by the GOP, then our hopes for a democratic president are kaput. Dead in the water. Over. Finished.

I could be wrong, but I think superdelegates will be looking closely at strategy. The facts that Obama supporters never want to discuss rationally are that Hillary Clinton would bring a landslide victory in November. They've already dug up all her skeletons and nobody gives a fig anymore about her husband's marital indescretions. We care more about the economy. And we remember the Clintons brought us the strongest economy in our nation's history.

She can unify beyond our wildest dreams and she can defeat McCain. It's looking more and more like Obama cannot. Shall we chase lofty singsongs of “change” from an inexperienced candidate who looks destined to lose, or should we settle solidy on a sure bet who can kick McCain's butt with both hands tied behind her back?

I feel confident that superdelegates have brains. Unless they WANT a democratic defeat in November? Ritter et al…

It's probably going to revert to a lot of stupid Bush-bashing, McCain-is-Bush-Big-Lie repeating, ordinary Democratic circus stuff now. Along with hopefully another good Obama speech to make it still worthwhile.

With what doesn't already cross over, we can lump this “movement” into the Obama birth certificate conspiracy crowd.

For such a showdown to occur, it would have to be organized from within the Clinton camp. Besides being almost impossible to keep a secret it's a move so stupid it´s far beneath Hillary Clinton. I was in the Obama camp early, but stupid the lady isn´t one little bit.

When Clinton does something, it is with a goal in mind. What would be the benefit of this? Only a delusional idiot could think that Clinton could pull off a win in November in the highly unlikely event she could pull off a hijack of the convention. Talk about dividing the party, droves of Democratic voters would refuse to vote what they would view as an illegitimate candidate (she even endorsed him!) and I doubt Independents would find her very attractive after a stunt like that.

And if she attempted a coupe and failed to win, it would not be better. In that case, either Obama wins or he loses in November. If he wins Hillary Clinton could expect to join the Joe Lieberman at the Senate Cafeteria. I do not think Obama is a saint, and I don´t think he´d look at all kindly on Clinton after a stunt like that. And if Obama lost in November blame would be placed squarely on Clinton´s shoulders for fracturing the party so close to the election, ruining her chances for an 20012 run.

Pulling off such a stunt and then going on to win the election is a possibility so remote that I simply can´t believe it came from the mind of a Clinton rather than the fantasy of a sour-grapes PUMA.
