Is the DNC in Denver? Or is it in Tombstone?

In one of his blogs this week, Jack Cafferty of CNN asked the ominous question, “What happened to the Clintons?” Well, I for one can’t wait for the fireworks to start at the Democratic National Convention. For those of you who think Hillary and Bill Clinton are going to peacefully surrender to Obama, I’ve got some Eskimos who are looking to buy some ice.

For the first time in over three decades, I will be glued in front of the television for the first three days of the convention. The first ballot is sure to be a made-for-television moment. I talked to a Clinton delegate here in Maryland and he told me that they have been instructed to vote for Hillary on the first ballot. To make things more interesting, there is a movement to swing 160 delegates from Obama to Clinton. If that occurs, Clinton could re-establish her campaign and face John McCain in the fall.

The group, P.U.M.A (Party Unity My A**) claims that 15 delegates have switched from Obama to Clinton in July. There is still the possibility of a floor convention vote to fully-seat the delegates of Michigan and Florida which would benefit Senator Clinton. Finally, the Obama flip-flop on the FISA bill has not been well received by the more liberal segments of the Democratic faithful.

The Democratic Convention may be shaping up as the O.K. Corral, Part Two. The weapons will be delegate votes instead of Colt Peacemakers. Where are the Clintons? They are patiently waiting for Denver. The only question is: will it be an easy nomination for Obama or one of the grandest political ambushes ever pulled off…on the voting floor of the Convention.

I really don´t believe this scenario. Oh I have no doubt that the crybaby PUMAS salivate at the prospect. Like Paulites, they have no actual requirement to be connected to reality. I don´t think that Hillary Clinton is stupid or on a suicide path, and she would have to be one of the two or both to employ the strategy you suggest.

For such a showdown to occur, it would have to be organized from within the Clinton camp. Besides being almost impossible to keep a secret it's a move so stupid it´s far beneath Hillary Clinton. I was in the Obama camp early, but stupid the lady isn´t one little bit.

When Clinton does something, it is with a goal in mind. What would be the benefit of this? Only a delusional idiot could think that Clinton could pull off a win in November in the highly unlikely event she could pull off a hijack of the convention. Talk about dividing the party, droves of Democratic voters would refuse to vote what they would view as an illegitimate candidate (she even endorsed him!) and I doubt Independents would find her very attractive after a stunt like that.

And if she attempted a coupe and failed to win, it would not be better. In that case, either Obama wins or he loses in November. If he wins Hillary Clinton could expect to join the Joe Lieberman at the Senate Cafeteria. I do not think Obama is a saint, and I don´t think he´d look at all kindly on Clinton after a stunt like that. And if Obama lost in November blame would be placed squarely on Clinton´s shoulders for fracturing the party so close to the election, ruining her chances for an 20012 run.

Pulling off such a stunt and then going on to win the election is a possibility so remote that I simply can´t believe it came from the mind of a Clinton rather than the fantasy of a sour-grapes PUMA.

I think it's a lot of bluster fueled by wishful (wistful?) thinking. I don't doubt there'll be delegates who vote for Hillary to make a statement, but I doubt they'll get anywhere close to the 160 or whatever it is to send their candidate on.

With what doesn't already cross over, we can lump this "movement" into the Obama birth certificate conspiracy crowd.

Oh good lord. Hey, maybe they'll premiere that legendary Michelle "Whitey tape" at the same time! And John Edwards' "mistress" can give the keynote. (But only after the Flying Spaghetti Monster delivers the invocation.)

A brawl would still be great, as I stated months ago, but I simply don't think it's going to happen now. What Clinton will do, who knows, but I don't foresee any Bitter Obama and Clinton supporters attacking each other while they Cling to their own candidate.

It's probably going to revert to a lot of stupid Bush-bashing, McCain-is-Bush-Big-Lie repeating, ordinary Democratic circus stuff now. Along with hopefully another good Obama speech to make it still worthwhile.

    OMG!

The hope of Republicans is now Bill Clinton!!!!

Jeez, if you're really going to try to resuscitate Hillary, then I'll be forced to resume my Draft Gore rants.

And really, nobody wants to see that sort of escalation.

    ;)

    Tony Tony Tony..

Forget the PUMA's. It's the Hags Against Him! Group that will really shake up the convention.

It's less of an ambush and more of a political strategy. I think people lose sight of the fact that of all the goals democrats are after, the NUMBER ONE GOAL is to ACTUALLY get a democrat at the Whitehouse.

Obama has certain....liabilities...as a candidate. He's just barely pulling a smidgen above even with McCain right now. If any scandal should "accidentally" be leaked to mainstream press covertly by the GOP, then our hopes for a democratic president are kaput. Dead in the water. Over. Finished.

I could be wrong, but I think superdelegates will be looking closely at strategy. The facts that Obama supporters never want to discuss rationally are that Hillary Clinton would bring a landslide victory in November. They've already dug up all her skeletons and nobody gives a fig anymore about her husband's marital indescretions. We care more about the economy. And we remember the Clintons brought us the strongest economy in our nation's history.

She can unify beyond our wildest dreams and she can defeat McCain. It's looking more and more like Obama cannot. Shall we chase lofty singsongs of "change" from an inexperienced candidate who looks destined to lose, or should we settle solidy on a sure bet who can kick McCain's butt with both hands tied behind her back?

I feel confident that superdelegates have brains. Unless they WANT a democratic defeat in November? Ritter et al...

Obama has won the duel with Clinton and is gunning for the White House over McCain's dead body.

Yeah, in what utopian parallel universe? lol.

The universe I live in has some "extenuating circumstances" with reference to the strength of Obama's campaign, and more importantly, his electability..

    ******

And in related news.. This article on this particular and prestigious website is BIG news. COLLOSAL news. TITANIC news.

You know BigMedia has it's finger on the pulse of what goes on here.

Now, let's watch the big network news channels in the coming days. We should've seen something on this already. Clinton potentially replacing their darling Obama???

    So far....nothing....

Weird, isn't it? What other GIGANTIC, COLLOSAL news with respect to Obama potentially not being able to be elected do they know about and aren't reporting? ; )

PUMA is a joke. This whole blog post is BS pushed by deadenders like Silhouette with nothing better to do.

There you go again, making friends...lol

And wishing away reality, hoping it will substitute for good planning..

I agree with Lynx, particularly if Hillary does have her eye on the prize in 2012. This convention ambush would most certainly be suicide for her.

Though I wouldn't be surprised if Hill's supporters do vote for her in the first vote, just to get in the record, or something... and then vote for Obama after. I don't much care for that either.

BTW: the country would go nuts over this (if Hillary made a true ambush attempt, far and above just the first vote thing) and it would put McCain in the WH regardless of who he was facing. So many Americans believe that the Dems can't get their act together and this would prove them right. The only folks who would be happy for this are those fringe loonies who still defy the laws of common sense and support Hillary over party unity. If Hillary did hijack the nomination and lost the election to McCain, those folks would blame everyone (including Obama) but Hillary.

    I don't quite trust Hillary.
I saw a video clip of her on a progressive blog (not a PUMA, but the blogger is a woman) and her message was: It's me. I'm the one, the only one, taking care of you. .
She purposefully encourages a kind of neurotic dependence on her.
The responses were sickening, like little girls with a crush on their gym teacher.

That's the opposite of what feminism should inspire: not dependency, but a can-do spirit. There is something deeply, deeply wrong with some of Hillary's female fans, and I'm not sure she's above exploiting them for her own benefit.
