DLS- He's getting a little long in the tooth for K St, LOL. But, you are right— too many lawmakers view their public service as a mere stepping stone to cashing in on the real goodies— which often makes a mockery of the very idea of public service. I think in a perfect world this type of outrage would be outlawed.

Will this be what turns remaining Republicans off, like the Foley affair in '06?

It can be the basis Obama's ready response when his lack of experience and vagueness of what “change” should be are raised again. We know, he can say, what it shouldn't be.

BOTH Stevens and Jefferson should have been out a long time ago. Anyone else wondering why these investigations drag on seemingly endlessly? Whatever happened to the indictment of Tom Delay?

It's not ALL bad news for Ted. His popularity ratings in Louisiana shot up nearly 30 points today. Finally somebody to draw attention away from Dollar Bill Jefferson!

Stevens has been an embarrassment for a long time. Lock him away.

His pal, Don Young is no prize either. Alaska is to the GOP what Louisiana is to the Dems- a political embarassment due to long-standing corruption. This is tragic for the Republican party's election hopes, which are already quite dim.
Stevens is the longest serving Senator in their party- so its quite a significant blow.
