Truly Bold Veep Choices

Newsweek asked, I answer:

For Republican Senator John McCain, why not Democratic Senator Russ Feingold of Wisconsin? Ever hear of McCain-Feingold in reference to campaign finance reform? If a liberal, divorced Jewish Democrat won’t fly with the GOP, why not someone McCain actually likes such as Joe Lieberman or Tom Ridge?

For Democratic Senator Barack Obama, the boldest and best move he could make would be asking Al Gore to top his ticket while Obama takes the Veep slot himself. This would bring many disgusted Democrats back into the fold by ensuring experience at the top. Obama is young enough to run many more times.

The Obama suggestion….I'd definitely get behind that.

McCain should pick Condi Rice, as he was discussing for awhile. They deserve each other, now that he has neoconned himself right into Bush's camp.

How about Obama asking Hillary to be president and Obama VP?

  3. The Obama suggestion – yea, like that'll happen. Obama hasn't spent all that money just to give the spot to someone else.

I'm not sure on Al Gore. He does wonders on bringing attention to global warming an all, but I just feel like his time in the national political spotlight, like the Clintons', is over.

I think Obama needs someone with military experience, and McCain needs someone younger, but not too young, as it'll call too many attention to his own age.

I don't see Joe Lieberman as a particularly “bold” veep choice for McCain. Two old, out of touch white men. Pardon me while I doze ……… zzzzzzzzzzzzzz …………

The strong choice for McCain would be Colin Powell (assuming he was interested) and the strong choice for Obama would still be Hillary.
