Note that Versailles was a combination of progressive Western conceit (already people thought they could remake the world for the rest of the world&#039;s own good, typically through government actions) and the darker side of European nature expressed in the vengeful parts of the treaty (that even the most anti-German critics of Nazi Germany acknowledge contributed to the rise of Hitler).</description>
