Close Encounter For Wannabe Boy Racer

novak.robert.jpgTimes are tough for syndicated snark Robert Novak.

It’s been quite a while since he outed a CIA operative, his McCain veep scoop this week turned out to be false and his old war-hero pal keeps acting tres unpresidential.

On top of all that, he dinged a pedestrian with his black Corvette this morning on the way to the spin factory and then, according to witnesses, tried to drive off before police could arrive. The guy is a lawyer, so who cares?

Novak, 77, has earned a reputation around the capital as an aggressive driver and has said that his secret desire is to be king of . . . er, a race-car driver.

He eventually was ticketed and went on his way.

More here.

Why wasn't he arrested? Isn't leaving the scene of an accident an arrestable offense? Then again this is DC we're talking about- and people leave the scene of an accident daily as they walk off the Hill.

    Arrested? For hitting a pedestrian?

What is this world coming to. Next they’ll be wanting to arrest people for beating up hobos.

Think of the time that would be wasted if we had to stop for every walker/jogger that ended up splayed on our windshields. The guy obviously wasn’t dead, so what’s all the fuss about?

I note that often when hospitals report minor injuries, they mean the person is ambulatory, but can be terribly banged up and cut up. I hope the 66 year old fellow recovers completely.

This is very bad news for Novak. He has enjoyed a kevlar jacket re the LIbby mess. If the man he hit, literally was splayed on his windshield, and that's not a 'guess' by a reporter, but a fact... Novak's career is over. Credibility. Mr. Novak is a Catholic convert. He absolutely knows that such a huge lapse in moral behavior is against every Catholic social justice principle. Even early dementia and being on antihistamines and painkillers wouldn't buy a door in that wall..

Imagine the outrage if the roles were reversed. I doubt if Novak would be understanding if someone hit and run him. Imagine if the hit and run driver was non-white and illegal.

Notice how some on this thread believe a lawyer [cognate with liar] about his version of events, [there was only one witness, according to the lead story] and everyone knows how self-aggrandizing an a [body orifice] lawyer is once he recognizes a possible con. Maybe he was chasing ambulances on his bicycle!!

Seriously, does anyone notice how seriously the bunch of Obama-groupies & camp followers called the Mainstream Media take themselves? Is this really news? Would it be news if it were a lefty-loon who hit the pedestrian? The MSM is a bunch of self-referential [body orifices]!

This is sheer inside-the-Beltway BS. And when one assumes a lawyer is right & Novak is guilty---these are two unwarranted assumptions. We have only the word of a liar, oops, lawyer to verify the accident---the lawyer chased Novak down once he recognized him.
My guess is that the lawyer is a major Obamaniac & both lawyers & pressies are sacks of fecal material, in the estimation of 90% of the country.

Meanwhile, the overseas MSM groupies follow Obamessiah and report the wonders of his "fake-interviews" in the words of Andrea Mitchell.

And McCain's town hall meetings don't screen questions and decide who is invited to these meetings. When Billary planted a question the Right went ballastic, but both sides are guilty of this shamelss spin(planted questions and guest lists).

Not for hitting, for leaving. Accidents happen but for Novak it was only a matter of time....
Fact: He clipped a guy. Happens a lot here in NYC with bike msgrs, pedestrians and taxicabs. Accidents that could be prevented by safer driving. Nobody sees vultures hanging from the streetlamps with lawyer licenses just waiting to swoop down and give testimony-they have enough ads on the subways already!!! For someone who claims to be a closet racer, that lack of being in tune with his vehicle is circumspect. Fact: he drove away.
    That's all I'm going on.

And for someone like Daveinboca (Dave in mouth?) to make a sweeping assumption about a witness because of his avowed profession, is equally tantamount to scrutiny.

On Novak's "McCain's veep scoop"... I read a couple paragraphs on that, yawned and went on to something else. Which is amazing because I always (well, I guess now it's "almost always") read articles through to the end. But I saw this as a story on a possible story and that Novak was trying to support McCain by trying to turn the attention away from Obama. It didn't warrant any more of my attention, other than a brief mental note that it was out there.

Who knows, McCain may still announce a veep candidate this week, and then I'll be all ears and eyes- on a real story.

I don't know about anyone else, but I think Novak is growing tiresome. I was looking forward to seeing his criticisms on Obama, but I think Novak is turning into a partisan hack for the GOP.

Seems like his 'scoop' may have just been shot down, as Jindel Just stated uncategorically he will not accept the VP slot on a McCain ticket. Probably a politically wise move.

"The guy is a lawyer, so who cares?"

Exactly what was this supposed to mean, if it means anything at all?

" Happens a lot here in NYC with bike msgrs, pedestrians and taxicabs. Accidents that could be prevented by safer driving."

Careful. I've seen the same in DC and other places (like Detroit where at least thirty per cent of people are retardates behind the wheel, and Detroit is far from the worst place in the nation), but there also are legions of stupid bike messengers, pedestrials (who jaywalk and almost are asking to be struck as if they want to file a lawsuit) and of course (in NYC, they're deserving of a machine-gunning) taxi drivers.

Last time I checked, lawyers were more unpopular than Congress, which Pelosi & Reid have led to a 9% "approval" rating.
