From Germany’s Frankfurter Rundschau: On Obama’s Speech, and the Nazi Past of the Victory Column …

The controversy over Barack Obama’s upcoming speech in Berlin just keeps on going.

Now that the decision has been made not to hold the speech near the Brandenburg Gate, moving it instead down the road from the Brandenburg Gate to the Victory Column, some German politicians argue that because the Tower was moved to its present location by Hitler, it, too, is the wrong location for Obama’s speech.

With evident exasperation, Stephan Hebel writes for Germany’s Frankfurter Rundschau:

“We recommend blowing it up! And not just the Victory Column! Berlin was Hitler’s capitol and so it’s impossible to find any historically untainted place.”

Germany – Frankfurter Rundschau – Original Article (German)

When he visits us this week, the most promising candidate for the U.S. presidency will deliver a keynote address on the principles of his foreign policy. This is a great expression of high regard. But many of those who have been following the German debate about Barack Obama’s appearance have come to a more-surprising explanation of why he’s here: Perhaps the candidate enjoys visiting us so much because there’s so much to laugh about in our country.

Probably nowhere else in the world would people debate the correct location for such a speech with such seriousness. The latest news: some second and third tier politicians have now realized that Berlin’s Victory Column , the place where Obama intends to deliver his speech, possesses a martial past – from the Nazi period no less.

: "There's no question about it. Wall Street got drunk ---that's one of the reasons I asked you to turn off the TV cameras -- it got drunk and now it's got a hangover. The question is how long will it sober up and not try to do all these fancy financial instruments."

This is an amazingly accurate analysis of what happened to them. Its actually something he should have said in a major speech. Its the truth. its always the truth when wall street smells money they run amuck. Always have. Always will.

Its called greed. Its why Las Vegas, Atlantic City exist. Trust me most people dont go there for the shows. They go there for the greed. The chance to win big.

Its why Lotteries and the powerball are so popular. People dont play them because they like paying more taxes. They play them for greed. To win.

Big Business is no different. Its all about the money. Its why they exist. Its their purpose. Its all about excesses. Its all about having their drugs and their alcohol. Its all about the money. More is better.

Lots and lots more is even better.......damn the consequences.

Now make room for the legislate and regulate crowd to say.......see this is why we have to regulate them and tell them how to behave. They can't be trusted.. They are like children in candy stores.

The other day We took 4 young girls to the Carnival. Gave them each 20 dollars and told them they could not spend it all and that we expected them to come home with some money. 5 Hours later we picked them up, they were all sick, tired, paie looking and BROKE.

They were children in a candy store/Carnival with a 1000 things to spend their money on and the immaturity and inability to say no. They were broke from indulgence and did the very thing they knew they were not to do.

That is wall street. Hand them a bull Market and tell them not to make money is like telling those young girls to go to the carnival and not indulge their fantasies.

    Aint happening.
