Weightman, that was truly funny.

I've had two tats in my lifetime, not for prying eyes, but private ones. It's a ritual and a tradition. There are sacred reasons and some have profane or drunken or reckless reasons for getting tats, or not.

Just like making love, like writing, like anything else, there are understandings about tats that run cheap, and understandings that run deep. You'd have to talk to a true tat aficianado to hear the stories that aren't written in the media, or like my friend Maladome from the Dagara tribe... it's an entire thought system rooted in culture, not something tacked on as a 'fun' insanity

it's rare to read in pop news about people dedicated to the nuances and agonies and ecstasies of body art and bod mod

dr.e

Given the feverish hyper-partisanship that abounds today, I'm surprised that people don't have their political affiliations or candidates embossed on their skin.

One thing's for sure, you'll never find a donkey on my ass.

Tatoos also have a long tradition in many cultures and subcultures. Are people forgetting the future by getting tatooed or participating in the long traditions of their past to carry them forward?

I really don't think that guys that promote their appearance as a latter-day Waldo - you know, a cartoon character - really should be focusing on appearance as an issue OR an analogy, most particularly because of a lack of visible credibility. And based on his editorial efforts of the last several years, there's a real question of his intellectual credibility as well.

Ugh. Just ugh.
