Election 2008: Scoreboard

We are now through exactly half of the states, 25 down and 25 more to go. If you haven’t taken a look at the state by state summaries please check the blog for each one.

President: So far Senator Obama retains his lead over Senator McCain. The numbers from the first 25 states give him 162 Electoral Votes to 125 for Senator McCain.

This is a net Democratic Gain of 16 over the 2004 vote.

Senate: The Democrats are currently up one seat which would give them 51 seats (including ’Independent’ Senator Sanders of Vermont) to the Republicans 48. Senator Lieberman is a toss up at this point since the Democrats may toss him out.

House: So far the Democrats lead 131-108 which is a net gain of one seat from the current 233-202 majority.

Governor: With their pickup in Missouri the Democrats are up one seat (probably the only seat to change this year) which would give them a net edge of 29-21.

Fortunately, Senator Lieberman's term does not expire until 2012.

I know his term does not expire till 2012. What I meant was that the Democrats may expell him from their caucus, which means either the Senate would be 51 Dems, 48 GOP and 1 Ind or that he would join the GOP to make it 51-49.

    Sorry for any confusion.

Somebody seems to keep forgetting to say, “IN MY OPINION”.
