Actually, if you read something like the New Yorker article that sheds light on his mysterious background, you'll find there's more to him than just the sound bites for speeches and the pretty boy looks that have his worshippers spellbound. In fact, it's a tail-end Baby Boomer success story that probably would stoke latent ambitious among many young people in this country. Call him grasping or just impatient with being in Illinois or power-and-attention-hungry for wanting to be where liberalism and the Democrats have placed so much power (and money) in this country — Washington and the federal government — but his rise apparently out of nowhere involves many of the same things we see now.

And in fact, even before learning more about him I and others already knew, as well as with Clinton, that all the candidates have the required dexterity to hold office (returning to etymological play).
