The Military Times lists additional places where veterans can receive “from free meals to discounts on propane deliveries,” here, but also offers a word to the wise:
Always call ahead to confirm what they’re offering, and whether there are limitations, such as hours. In many cases, for example, a free meal doesn’t come with a beverage, so be prepared to pay for your beverage and other extras. While some restaurants have discounts for those who are dining with a veteran or active-duty member, many don’t. When you go into the business, let them know you would like the discount or deal.
========
Of course our veterans deserve much more than free food, drinks and other “freebies” on their Day, November 11, and many articles are being written and events organized to show our gratitude and respect.
But, still, dozens of businesses across the country are pitching with food and drink as a small token of their appreciation to present and past members of our military.
While every locality will have additional restaurants, movie theaters, stores offering their free services to our veterans, Money has published a list of big and small restaurant chains where our veterans can eat just a hamburger or enjoy an entire meal free on Veterans Day.
The list ranges from “A” for Applebee’s to “W” for World of Beer.
Please check the list here and be sure to bring ID or other proof of status as a current or former member of the military.
Money adds:
Among the non-food freebies, Great Clips is giving anyone who gets a haircut on November 11 a card that a veteran or active-duty military service member can later use for a free haircut; UFC Gyms are giving free gym access to those with military ID and their families from November 11 to 15; Meineke offers free oil changes with military ID on Veterans Day; and national park admission is free for everyone on November 11.
