If you believe that there must be at least two viable national political parties for the American version of participatory democracy to work, let alone thrive, then the Republican Party must be saved from itself. But how to do so?
Is the time ripe for a third party, either moderate refugees from today’s extremist GOP who want to rebuild the Party of Lincoln in a 21st century context or a party for extremists who no longer are welcome in the GOP?
Or must the party, as fractured as it has become, remain whole no matter the cost?
