Here is a bit of interesting political trivia I was pondering today.
Between 1900 and 1948 we had 13 Presidential elections.
In 9 of those a Roosevelt (Theodore or Franklin) was running for either President or Vice President. Only 1916,1924, 1928 and 1948 excepted.
And had TR lived longer he might have been on the ticket in 1920 and 1924 and would have been the incumbent in 1928. Had FDR lived his term out he’d have been the incumbent in 1948. So they could have covered 12/13.
Then between 1952 and 1976 we had 7 elections and Nixon was running for President or Vice President 5 times and had he not resigned he’d have been incumbent in 1976.
Then 1980-2012 we have 9 elections with a Bush or Clinton either on the ticket or in the White House for 8 of them (only 2012 excepted).
So basically in all of the elections since 1900 we’ve had 6 people (TR, FDR, Nixon, Bush 1, Bush 2, Bill Clinton) in almost every Presidential Election.
And look who is one of the front runners this year..
