What was done to them is an idictment against the press, the media and hyper-vemtilating pundits.

Which is why it would have been better if the press had gotten bored and moved on more quickly. It's tragic for sure, but it's only one girl.

Jazz,,
I hope that 'it never ends' doesn't reflect boredom with the story.
i can assure you that the Ramsey family hasn't been bored during these 12 years.

What was done to them is an idictment against the press, the media and hyper-vemtilating pundits. It fits in perfectly with what we continue to do to anyone who captures the public's attenton. We revel in people destruction.

On speaking a second language, Fausta doesn't sort it out. She doesn't even get what it is that needs sorting. People like Fausta would gain some credence if they bothered to become familiar with immogrants who arrive without speaking English.
I can speak with some authority, because iI was such an Englishlesss immigrant child. The stark reality is that in order to succedd here, one has to learn English.
I did well because I was young,. My father did adequately, but my mother was too shy to ever become fluent. Our success directly mirrored our ability to learn English and to blend into the existing culture (assimilate). i did well, my father did adequately, but my mother was always severely limited in job opportunities and earning ability.

The result for me was that I was fluent in two languages, and could pick up a feeling for additional languages with much less effort than my English-only friends. This made it easy for me to befriend students from a variety of countres when in college, and from there, I have an easier time in understand people different than I.
it has been a win-win situation all my life, with the possible exception that I lose patience with the nationalistic types like Fausta suffering from a phopbia about non-English speaking immigrants.

All it takes to encourage learning Enlglish and assimilation is to encourage the will and the opporutnities to succeed. Retaining knowledge of the nother tongue can only enrich and help in success.

I'm glad to see that Obama gets it.
