President Obama will be traveling to Roseburg, Ore. on Friday to meet privately with the families of victims of the mass shooting at Umpqua Community College, according to USA TODAY.
Also traveling to Roseburg will be the three American “train heroes” who — along with three others — stopped a terrorist attack on a Paris-bound train on August 21.
Airman 1st Class Spencer Stone and Anthony Sadler, both 23, will join Army National Guard Spec. Alek Skarlatos, 22, in Roseburg in coming days as the city recovers following the Oct. 1 attack that left nine people dead before authorities say the gunman, Chris Harper-Mercer, committed suicide.
Skarlatos is a graduate from high school in Roseburg and was planning to attend Umpqua Community College where the tragedy occurred but had delayed starting classes because he is participating in ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.”
As soon as he heard about the attack, Skarlatos went to Roseburg.
Stone and Sadler were in New York City over the weekend to receive an award for valor from Belgium’s government, but plan to join Skarlatos in Roseburg soon, according to the Post.
The Post concludes:
Skarlatos asked for people to pray for his school and the people killed Thursday. They include Lucero Alcaraz, 19; Treven Taylor Anspach, 20; Rebecka Ann Carnes, 18; Quinn Glen Cooper, 18; Kim Saltmarsh Dietz; 59; Lucas Eibel, 18; Jason Dale Johnson, 34; Lawrence Levine, 67; and Sarena Dawn Moore, 44.
