Last week on Labor Day, The Moderate Voice came under two sudden and brutal denial of service attacks from China. The site was nearly brought down and badly damaged. To our surprise, TMV received several donations, and we had not asked for them in our explanation of what happened that threatened the site’s existence and ruined the Labor Day of several people.
To all who donated, thank you. We had a special fundraiser late last year due to a a legal issue. The fundraiser completely replenished TMV’s modest bank account of the money lost. Some of this money was applied to pay for the extensive time needed to not only stem the attack and try to shore up the site, but to but reboot and revamp an extremely damaged website.
TMV only does fundraisers sparingly, but when we get money — during a fundraiser or at any time during the year it goes right into the TMV bank account. If we eventually get enough money from ad revenues (and legitimate ad inquiries or plans that will work on the way TMV is laid out are not easy to find) and if donations trickle in from readers or others who like what we do, the next step would be for a more extensive upgrade and fine-tuning its look. There may be yet another step that will be done in the near future.
So everyone who donated literally has helped TMV survive and thrive. THANK YOU. FOOTNOTE: Thanks yous are sent out when donations are received, but once in a while one gets missed.
So to who all who donated THANK YOU. And TMV’s modest bank account thanks you.
