The housing market crisis is a major issue in the upcoming election. Both candidates are attempting to address the issue and differentiate their positions from one another. It kill some to think of having at least a 4 year extension of the current political policies. However, it is almost as scary to consider revisiting the Carter years that failed and left the country in a horribly weakened position. Obama has to start to articulate his positions more than just talking about 'change' and McCain has to go back to being a maverick rather than a Bush lackey so he can raise the funds to compete with Obama. Here's the side-by-side video Clash/Politics

Add to the scary economic picture the fact that oil may soon be sold in Euros instead of dollars. That will crush the already weakened dollar.

McCain has spent every day since April attacking Obama over everything. Obama has tried to address the issues but, McCain and the gop don't want to talk about them. Because they know two things.
One, Bush has destroyed the country and the economy.
Two, The gop has nothing to run on.
They are trying to distract and run on wedge issues and all the usual garbage because they do not want to talk about issues knowing they and Bush destroyed everything!
Bush had the treasury cleaned out by his cronies and stuck us with so much debt it will be impossible to really know the true damage until he is out.

Urban planners have estimated nearly $1.3 trillion in infrastructure repairs are required in the United States. That means a lot of jobs and an improved ability to compete internationally. We HAVE to move forward on this or we will be in even worse shape down the road.

Source

Here's a name you might remember with respect to the foregoing concerns:

Clinton...

Elected President of the United States in 1992, and again in 1996, President Clinton was the first Democratic president to be awarded a second term in six decades. Under his leadership, the United States enjoyed the strongest economy in a generation and the longest economic expansion in U.S. history. President Clinton’s core values of building community, creating opportunity, and demanding responsibility resulted in unprecedented progress for America, including moving the nation from record deficits to record surpluses; the creation of over 22 million jobs—more than any other administration; low levels of unemployment, poverty and crime; and the highest homeownership and college enrollment rates in history. His accomplishments as president include increasing investment in education, providing tax relief for working families, helping millions of Americans move from welfare to work, expanding access to technology, encouraging investment in underserved communities, protecting the environment, countering the threat of terrorism and promoting peace and strengthening democracy around the world. His Administration’s economic policies fostered the largest peacetime economic expansion in history.
