Election 2008: Arkansas

The home of the Clintons (well one of their homes) is next on our tour of the fifty states. While it has a pretty strong history of supporting Democrats for most offices it has been a Republican base in Presidential races.

President: Had Clinton won the Democratic nomination (or if she is the VP nominee) then the state would have probably leaned towards the Democrats. Even without that, there is a strong African American base which will help Obama make some inroads into the state. However there are also probably some unhappy Clinton supporters who might not back the Illinois Senator.

Republican Favored

Senate: This is probably the easiest race to predict. Incumbent Mark Pryor is running for a second term and the Republicans did not nominate anyone.

Safe Democrat

House: None of the state’s 4 house seats seem likely to change hands, in fact it is likely they will join Pryor in being unopposed, making it a rare case of an entire delegation being unoppposed.
