A myth is that you have to be affiliated politically with some guru to have a lucid thought about the corruption of BigOil.

The fact is that they have a monopoly on our country, have wilfully placed it in a strategically vulnerable position by sacking our economy to fund their hostile corporate takeover of the sovereign nation Iraq under false pretenses. And now when our country teeters on the brink of a collosal economic depression, they strike the final blow by sucking what little is left of the backbone of our nation: the middle and working classes by manipulating pump prices with "sudden" needs in China and India as the explanation.

They wounded the nation and now are moving in for the kill. And they say the terrorists are in Iraq or Iran? I think they've got a little help. It isn't a bomb that is going to level us, it is the purposeful and forceful undermining of our economy that will buckle our knees and put our heads on the chopping block.

If you or I wilfully placed the country in the position it is now for greed and profit, we would be tried for treason. We wouldn't be given an ounce of leniency.

Instead we give them more tax breaks and bend over backwards to their scare tactics of nuclear energy to keep us thinking coal and oil instead of clean, safe and reliable point-source alternatives like wind for Chicago, Hydro for riverside cities and geothermal for cities near vulcanism like in the Pacific Northwest., and solar for sun-laden towns like The Southwest and Southern California, Las Vegas and the like.

I say, let's send BigOil a message: how about four days a month...each Sunday...we all agree not to buy one drop of gasoline. Four days a month we simply either don't drive or we make sure we can without buying those days.

See if we can make it that long and maybe incorporate more "time-outs" for BigOil until it learns to behave itself. I also think we should legislate mandatory taxes against BigOil earmarked to fund development of on-site community alternatives all across the nation. To mitigate maybe they could have some limited shares in those on-site facilities.

Long ago BigOil should've taken this incentive themselves instead of waiting until they nearly destroyed our country before we force them to stop suppressing alternative site-specific technologies..

There should be fines and punishment. They'll never be tried for treason...too many buddies in Congress will assure that. But if Congress listens to the people...BigOil better start listening to Congress and get in line RIGHT NOW or we're gong to start firing some public servants faster than you can say OPEC.

Siting on their hands?
If Mc cain and Obam do their blaming schtick, critcs do their own.
There is such a thing as implementation, you know, and Bush is still in the White House,. Though largely forgotten, he is a master at playing politics and to bend it to his liking. .

I endorse Obma's plan, but I recognize he can't hope to implemnt it while campaigning. He would be opposed and stymied merely becasue he is the opposition, not on the merits. The Republican WH and the Republicans in Congress would rather commit hari-kiri than give him the credit.

These things happen in the real wrold of politics, Not until after the elections, can we look for implementation.

"The only feasible way to mitigate suffering from high oil prices now and in the near future is for Americans to use less oil and its derivatives"

Make it compulsory and deliberately reduce our standard of living and it's merely the imposition of, not the mitigation of, suffering.

Conservation never has been "the" solution (or inherently the best response) to the problem of high energy prices. It can be significant but it is not the Only Thing.
